Research interests in the Kobzik laboratory includes the study of lung host defense against inhaled challenges be they environmental particulates, pathogens or allergens. Another area of study is how environmental exposures during pregnancy later the susceptibility of newborns to allergic disease (epigenetic ‘prenatal programming’). A final major area is in lung host defense against infections, including mechanisms of enhancing innate immunity through immunomodulators.
