The Dore Laboratory's scientific interests lie at the interface of chemistry and biology, creating new technology to study complex biological systems. Current projects include the design, synthesis, evaluation, and application development of photoactivatable signaling molecules that can be used to control neural activity in the brain and explore the role of certain genes and other elements in vertebrate development. An emphasis is placed on photochemical probes that have high sensitivity to 2-photon excitation.
