NFKB p50 KO (C57/129) Macrophage Cell Line

A nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells subunit 50 (NF-κB p50) KO macrophage cell line isolated from bone marrow in C57/129 mice after immortalization with a retrovirus (J2) containing the myc and v-raf oncogenes.

NF-κB is a protein complex that controls transcription of DNA, cytokine production and cell survival. It has been shown to play a role in the immune responses after infection and has been associated with autoimmune disorders and cancer. p50 is a subunit of the NFkB pathway. C57BL/6 also known as C57 black 6, C57 or black 6, is a common inbred strain of laboratory mouse. They are the most widely used and best-selling mouse strain, due to the availability of congenic strains, easy breeding, and robustness. 129 mice are widely used in the production of targeted mutations due to the availability of multiple embryonic stem cell lines derived from them. They also have a high incidence of spontaneous testicular teratomas.
