IFN-alpha/beta Rec KO (129) Macrophage Cell Line

A knockout Interferon alpha and beta receptor macrophage cell line isolated from bone marrow in 129 mice after immortalization with a retrovirus (J2) containing the myc and v-raf oncogenes.

Interferon alpha and beta receptor is a type I membrane protein that forms one of the two chains of a receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding and activation of the receptor stimulates Janus protein kinases, which in turn phosphorylate several proteins, including STAT1 and STAT2. Mutations in this gene are assocaited with hepatitis C and measles. 129 mice are widely used in the production of targeted mutations due to the availability of multiple embryonic stem cell lines derived from them. They also have a high incidence of spontaneous testicular teratomas.
