This mouse monoclonal antibody was generated against purified recombinant mCherry and recognizes mCherry.

The mCherry protein was derived from a monomeric mutant of DsRed, a red fluorescent protein from so-called disc corals of the genus Discosoma. mCherry is an important tool in biotechnology and cell biology as a spectrally distinct companion or substitute for the green fluorescent protein (GFP; from Aequorea jellyfish).

Research
Balb/cJ mice were immunized i.p. with 100 ugs of purified recombinant mCherry emulsified 1:1 with Complete Freuds Adjuvant. After 4.3 weeks, one mouse was boosted i.v. with 100 ugs of recombinant mCherry in Phosphate Saline Buffer. Four days later the spleen was harvested and spleen cells fused to NS0 myeloma cells. Hybrids were screened by an ELISA assay on mCherry-coated plates and developed with HRP-Goat anti- mouse IgG. Hybridomas from positive wells were cloned by limiting dilution.
