Isotopically labeled sterol intermediate in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway. Reacts with the dienophile, 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione (PTAD) to give products that have unique MS fragmentation patterns. This assay increases the sensitivity and shortens the analysis time.
