Research currently under way in the Parrott laboratory centers on the development of tissue culture and gene transfer systems, primarily for leguminous species, emphasizing soybean, alfalfa, and peanut, and the use of gene transfer systems to introduce value-added traits into these crops. Research is also geared towards developing methodology for multiple gene transformation, alternative selection systems, early analysis of transgenes, and dissection of centromere function in maize.
