Dr. Takemaru's lab focuses on investigating the roles of cilia and ciliary proteins in cell signaling, normal organ development, and diseases pathogenesis using mouse models. Some of the research topics that the team is working on are: 1) Molecular functions of ciliary proteins during mammalian development and diseases; 2) Role of the ciliary protein Chibby 1 (Cby 1) and its family memembers in mammalian spermatogenesis; 3) Super-resolution and live-cell imaging of ciliary proteins (employing a wide rande of imaging techniques); 4) Vesicle trafficking and membrane modeling during cilliogenesis.
