Propargyl-Maleimide

Propargyl-Maleimide is a short-length, maleimide-activated, sulfhydryl-reactive labeling reagent possessing a short hydrocarbon spacer.

Highlights:

  • Chemoselective – azide and alkyne groups do not react or interfere with other functional groups found in biological samples but conjugate to one another with high efficiency
  • Solubility – reagent easily dissolves in water-miscible solvents for subsequent dilution into aqueous reaction mixtures
  • Sulfhydryl-reactive – maleimides react rapidly with reduced cysteines or other molecules that contain reduced thiols (–SH groups) forming a stable thioether bond
  • Very Short Spacer – 4 atom spacer arm keeps alkyne group close to tagged molecules

Propargyl-Maleimide enables simple and efficient incorporation of terminal alkyne group onto antibodies, cysteine-containing peptides or other thiol-containing molecules. The alkyne group reacts with azides by a mechanism known as Cu-catalyzed click reaction enabling efficient and specific conjugation of derivatized molecules in biological samples.
