Cryopreserved primary human stellate cells isolated from resected liver tissue.
Hepatic stellate cells (also known as perisinusoidal cells or Ito cells) are the major cell type in the liver involved in fibrosis. Fibrosis is the first layer of scar tissue, when the liver becomes damaged. TLR4 or toll-like receptor 4, is a transmembrane protein that recognizes gram-negative bacteria and plays an important role in activating the innate immune system. All fresh primary human hepatocytes are isolated from single donors and processed the same day to ensure their best performance. All fresh stellates have post-thaw viabilities over 80%, and each batch is characterized by viability, cell yield, optimal seed density, morphology, attachment efficiency, and monolayer confluence.
