Morphinan N-demethylase (MND), isolated from novel strain of Methylobacterium and produced recombinantly in E. coli.

Morphinan N-demethylase (MND) is a versatile morphinan N-demethylase isolated from a novel strain of Methylobacterium that is able to N-demethylate a broad substrate range with varying efficiencies but converts morphinan substrates such as morphine, thebaine and codeine most efficiently. Other compound classes N-demethylated by MND including benzylisoquinoline, galanthamine, and tropane alkaloids.
