Anti-Pectic polysaccharide (alpha-1,5-arabinan) [LM13] Antibody

This rat IgM monoclonal antibody was generated against polysaccharide and recognizes land plants pectic polysaccharide, alpha-1,5-arabinan.

Isolated from a high throughput screen of antibodies generated subsequent to immunization with a pectic fraction. Recognizes a linear epitope in (1-5)-α-L-arabinans. Antibody recognition of arabinans increases with arabinofuranosidase action. This antibody binds to a specific subset of pectic arabinans, and to longer stretches of 1,5-linked arabinosyl residues that are likely to be more abundant in unbranched arabinans. The binding of LM13 is highly sensitive to arabinanase action. Homogalacturonan is a pectic polysaccharide made up of α-1,4 linked galacturonic acid residues. Pectin is made up of a complex set of polysaccharides that are found in most primary cell walls and are particularly abundant in the non-woody parts of terrestrial plants. Pectin is a major component of the middle lamella, where it helps to bind cells together, but is also found in primary cell walls.
