Iroquouis homeobox (IRX) factors are a family of homeodomain transcription factors that contribute to many different cells in the body including brain, other organs and fat cells. Specifically, IRX5 (part of the Irxb subgroup) has be shown to be expressed in endocardium lining the ventricular and atrial myocardium.
