Anti-Pex2 Antibody

This IgG rabbit polyclonal was generated against a peptide for PEX2 and reacts with human and rodent PEX2.

PEX2 protein is part of a family of PEX proteins that are essential for the assembly of functional peroxisomes. PEX2 is an important peroxisome biogenesis factor located on the peroxisomal membrane protein. It is an ubiquitin E3 ligase involved in matrix protein import. Peroxisomes, also known as microbodies are single membrane organelles found in almost all eukaryotic cells. They contain many enzymes involved in a variety of metabolic reactions, including several aspects of energy metabolism. Mutations of genes encoding perixosomal proteins, or the inability to form peroxisomes can lead to human disesases such as Peroxisome Biogenesis Disorders or Zellweger syndrome (ZWS). This antibody can be used to both quantify and identify peroxisomes in mammalian cells.
