Anti-Aspergillus fumigatus [16C4] Antibody

This hybridoma line constitutively produces a mouse anti-Aspergillus fumigatus monoclonal antibody (clone 16C4) specific to the apical region.

Aspergillus fumigatus is a widespread saprobe that breaks down organic material in soil. The conidia of this fungus are ubiquitous in the atmosphere and commonly inhaled. In healthy individuals, A. fumigatus can cause allergic reactions or localized infections. In the immunocompromised, however, it can cause invasive aspergillosis, an increasingly frequent and often fatal diease.

Data

mAb16C4 labels areas of polar growth.

A. fumigatus 237 was incubated for (a) 5, (b) 6, (c) 7, (d) 8 or (e) 9 h, fixed and labeled with mAb16C4 followed by FITC-conjugated anti-mouse secondary antibody. Left column, DIC image; right column, FITC image. Bars: 5 mm (a–c); 15 mm (d, e).

mAb16C4 recognizes a protein of ~70 kDa.

Total protein (lanes 2, 4) and the positive fraction from the Q column (lanes 1, 3) were analysed by PAGE, silver-stained (lanes 1, 2), Western blotted and hybridized with mAb16C4 (lanes 3, 4).
