  • Bill Emhiser

    Bill Emhiser

    Executive Chairman

    As one of the founders of Kerafast and its unique business model, Bill brings over 35 years’ experience in senior management positions with life science research tools companies. Most recently he co-founded and was President of Maine Manufacturing, LLC, global specialists in research products manufacturing taking it from 3 employees to over 200 in a 6-year period. Bill’s previous roles include CEO of London-based Whatman plc, President of the Life Sciences Division of Millipore Corporation, NA President of Proteome Systems, and President of Amicon. He earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.

    What's his mission?
    As a serial entrepreneur with a long and successful career in the life science tools space, Bill is passionate about giving back to the research community and science in general. This has led to his dedicated work with Kerafast and support of its mission.

  • Jennifer Rossi

    Jennifer Rossi, PhD


    In her work roles, Jen enjoys merging her scientific background with business planning and strategy as she realized early on, life in the lab was not really for her. With a BS/MS from Ohio University and a PhD from Brown University, Jen has held roles at Cohesive Technologies (now part of ThermoFisher), Qiagen, BioTrove (acquired by Life Technologies) and Biocius (now part of Agilent).  Clearly she enjoys building life science start-ups!

    Jen loves international travel and was fortunate to do lots of it while living and working in the U.K. for three years. Jen currently lives in Charlestown, MA with her husband, 8-year-old daughter, a dog, and a cat.

    What's her mission?
    Jen is President of a non-profit organization, the CMA which supports 1,300 families in her downtown Boston neighborhood of Charlestown. She also supports several canine rescue groups, and enjoys being a mentor.

  • Travis Riedel

    Travis Riedel, PhD, MBA

    Vice President of Product Development

    One of Kerafast's longest-tenured employees, Travis started with the company as an intern and never left! He completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Kansas and his PhD and MBA at Wake Forest University, specializing in biochemistry and structural biology of proteins involved in genetic kidney diseases.

    Travis is a huge college basketball fan and never misses a Kansas Jayhawks game. He is also an avid bicyclist (especially rooting for teams with Fabian Cancellara on the roster) and commutes by bike year-round, barring blizzards.

    What's his mission?
    Travis is passionate about open access to research materials and open access scientific publications, aiding in the acceleration of scientific discovery and sharing of research developments. He is also a supporter of the Oxalosis and Hyperoxaluria Foundation (OHF).

  • Amelia Gibson

    Amelia Gibson, PhD, MBA

    Director of Business Development

    Amelia joined Kerafast in 2013 while still finishing up her dissertation in North Carolina.  She has a Bachelor's degree from University of Tennessee and an MBA along with her PhD from North Carolina State University.

    Amelia traveled extensively through Europe while living in England between undergrad and graduate school.  She loves live music and musical theatre and is a musician herself, playing the guitar, piano, and singing in a choir.  Jazz is one of her favorite genres and if Amelia could be anyone in history, it would be Ella Fitzgerald.

    What's her mission?
    Amelia is passionate about animals. She loves to go horseback riding and volunteers with Last Hope K9 Rescue. She also has a rescue dog of her own, Wayne.

  • Matt Takvorian, MBA

    Director of Business Development

    Matt joined the Kerafast team in 2013 after completing Masters Degrees in both Business Administration and Microbial Biotechnology at North Carolina State University. Before moving to N.C. for graduate school, Matt worked as an Operations Manager at Addgene and as a Laboratory Manager at Advanced Liquid Logic (acquired by Illumina) after completing his BS at Boston College.

    As the middle child of three boys, Matt is a family guy, spending his spare time with his two nephews and niece. He is a huge sports fan, particularly New England sports teams and Boston College.

    What's his mission?
    Matt volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.

  • Dave Cloyd

    Dave Cloyd

    Director of Systems Integration

    Dave has been at Kerafast since 2014 and manages all things systems-related. He has experience in various industries as a digital marketer and e-commerce guru, but this is his first role in a scientific company. Receiving a BS in Marketing from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Dave was most recently at IdeaPaint and SharkNinja (the company behind Shark® and Ninja® brands).

    Dave is a family guy and spends a lot of his free time with his wife, two sons (9 & 10-years-old), nieces and nephews. He is also passionate about food and travel. Dave also loves a new car – he has owned 14 different cars in the past 17 years!

    What's his mission?
    Dave supports the ALS Association.

  • Amy Baver

    Amy Baver, MS

    Senior Product Manager

    Amy joined Kerafast in 2014 after managing multiple Department of Surgery research labs at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She received her BS from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and MS in biotechnology from Northeastern University.

    Outside of the office, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, her daughter Hannah and friends. You can find her regularly at spin classes or hiking/walking around New England.

    What's her mission?
    Amy loves animals and has had rescue dogs in the past, she also supports breast cancer research as well as her favorite Boston sports teams.

  • Lisa Merolla

    Lisa Merolla

    Director of Marketing

    Lisa joined the Kerafast team in 2015 after several years at Feinstein Kean Healthcare, a communications firm specializing in life science and healthcare organizations. She has extensive experience in the communications field including content development, website launches, media relations, social media and advertising. Lisa earned her journalism major and biology minor from Boston University.

    Lisa enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, biking, traveling, scrapbooking and checking out new restaurants. She studied abroad in Australia and backpacked through New Zealand. Although she grew up as a Yankee fan in New Jersey, after 10+ years in Boston, she has developed a soft spot for the Red Sox – so Lisa may be the world’s only Red Sox – Yankee fan!

    What's her mission?
    Lisa is passionate about engaging people of all backgrounds in science and generating excitement through scientific communication. She is also a supporter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.

  • William Vezinaw

    William Vezinaw

    Customer Support & Logistics Manager

    William moved from Rochester, New York to the Boston area to join Kerafast in 2015. At the University of Rochester, William completed his BS in Biological Sciences: Molecular Genetics and also worked for the biology department. If you call our customer service phone number, you are likely to speak with William.

    William enjoys the arts: He is an actor in theatric productions and enjoys visiting independent film theatres, music venues, art galleries and museums. Originally from California and an obsessive sports fan, William roots enthusiastically for the Boston Celtics and hopes to attend a lot of games his first season in Boston.

    What's his mission?
    William supports children’s literacy causes and hopes to spread enthusiasm for the written word. Additionally, William strives to do his part to advance biological research in order to expand the human knowledge base and develop practical applications of scientific discovery.

  • Susan Ownes

    Susan Ownes

    Customer Support Representative

    Kerafast’s newest addition, Susan recently moved to the Boston Seaport area from Connecticut. She has extensive experience working in customer support in both retail and local government positions. Susan enjoys traveling and winter sports – you will find her in the New Hampshire mountains every winter weekend, skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling.

    Golf is another passion of Susan’s; she is looking forward to playing all the local courses. As an avid sports fan, Susan enjoys attending sporting events, frequently going to Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and her favorite, New England Patriots games. Susan and her husband Scott have three adult children who share their love of sports and join them for games when they are in town.

    Susan’s current mission is enjoying all that her new hometown, Boston, has to offer.
