Giving Back

As part of our mission, Kerafast gives back to science by returning a generous portion of every sale to the scientists and institutions that contribute Reagents for the Greater Good. Giving back is a valued part of our culture here at Kerafast. Below are some ways our team gives back to both our local and global communities.

Giving Back to Science

Every quarter, we give contributing investigators and their institutions royalty payments from their reagent sales, providing an extra source of funding for additional research. We also sponsor scientific conference attendance for graduate students and postdocs; they then summarize key conference takeaways to be shared with the rest of the Kerafast community. For example, check out past reports on the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) and the Keystone “Stem Cell States” Symposium.

Serving the Local Community

The Kerafast team enjoys volunteering together with local charities in the Boston area. For example, we recently volunteered at Cradles to Crayons and Room to Grow, organizations that help children in need. Kerafast team members can also take time off from work every month to volunteer with personal causes, and have supported organizations ranging from mothers associations to animal rescue groups.

Mentoring Young Researchers

Our team is committed to mentoring young researchers at the start of their scientific careers. First, we offer the Kerafast fellowship program at select contributing institutions. The fellowship provides scientists with real-life experience in technology commercialization, helping them develop skills for careers on the business side of life science. In addition, Kerafast team members have been involved with NIH BEST (Broadening Experiences in Scientific Training), a program dedicated to improving biomedical career development. Our COO, Dr. Jennifer Rossi, also meets monthly with a group of local Boston postdocs to mentor them on building a career in the life sciences.
