The plasmid pHM175/18f.2 encodes for infectious molecular clone of cell culture-adapted, rapidly replicating, cytopathic human hepatitis A virus, genotype 1a, strain HM175/18f.

Hepatitis A is an infectious disease of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). It is usually spread by eating food or drinking water contaminated with infected feces. Symptoms are similar to influenza and include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, jaundice, fever, and abdominal pain. Hepatitis A vaccine is routinely available and effective.
