CD20-GFP Expressing BJAB Cell Line

BJAB cells expressing green fluorescence protein (GFP)-B-lymphocyte antigen CD20.

Highlights:

  • Cells express GFP and CD20

CD20, or B-lymphocyte antigen CD20, is a cell-surface protein expressed in most immune cells arising from the B-cell lineage and plays a role in cellular activation and proliferation. Importantly, CD20 is a recognized biomarker for a number of human disorders, including several autoimmune diseases and B-cell malignancies. BJAB cells come from a patient with Burkitt lymphoma, which is a form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in which cancer starts in immune cells called B-cells. GFP was fused to the amino terminus of CD20 by inserting human CD20 cDNA into the cloning site of the pEGFP expression vector using XhoI/SacII. Stable transfectants of BJAB cells expressing green fluorescence protein (GFP)-CD20 were generated by transfection and selection using G418 and cell sorting.
