Bone-marrow-derived macrophage (BMDM) refers to macrophage cells that are generated from mammalian bone marrow cells. Undifferentiated bone marrow cells are cultured in the presence of macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF; CSF1).[1] M-CSF is a cytokine that directs cell differentiation. These cells are often used in immunology and cell biology research.
