This rabbit polyclonal antibody was generated against recombinant human iron regulatory protein 1 (IRP1) and recognizes human and mouse IRP1 .

IRP1 stands for “iron regulatory protein 1”. It is encoded by the ACO1 gene (aconitase 1). IRP1 is a soluble protein and an iron sensor. When cellular iron levels are high, this protein binds to a 4Fe-4S cluster and functions as an aconitase. Aconitases are iron-sulfur proteins that function to catalyze the conversion of citrate to isocitrate.
