Anti-PMP70 (ABCD3) Antibody

This IgG rabbit polyclonal was generated against a peptide for PMP70 (ABCD3) and reacts with human and rodent PMP70. This antibody can be used to both quantify and identify peroxisomes in mammalian cells.

Peroxisomal membrane protein 70 (PMP70) is an abundant, integral membrane protein of the peroxisome. PMP70 is an ATP-binding cassette transporter, identified for the first time in intracellular membranes of eukaryotic cells. PMP70 is a classical marker of the peroxisomal membrane and may be involved in metabolic transport of long-chain acyl-CoA across peroxisomal membranes. Peroxisomes, also known as microbodies are single membrane organelles found in almost all eukaryotic cells. They contain many enzymes involved in a variety of metabolic reactions, including several aspects of energy metabolism. Mutations of genes encoding perixosomal proteins, or the inability to form peroxisomes can lead to human disesases such as Peroxisome Biogenesis Disorders or Zellweger syndrome (ZWS).
