Dimedone-d6

Dimedone-d6 is a deuterated version of dimedone, a chemoselective probe for detecting sulfenylated proteins in intact cells.

Highlights:

  • Consists of 5,5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione where two methyl groups are fully deuterated
  • Used along with dimedone (or iododimedone) for the quantification of sulfenic acid
  • Permits S-sulfenylation site occupancy to be monitored at individual cysteines within a single protein and is compatible with peptide-based proteomic strategies
Mild oxidation can convert the sulfhydryl group of cysteine residues (Cys-SH) on proteins to cysteine-sulfenic acid derivatives (Cys-SOH). Protein sulfenylation, then, is a post-translational modification that is relevant to redox signaling.
